SUCCESS!!

I find it insightful what others say and think about success. People somehow reveal the variety of things that drives them or where their lives are focus by simply giving a definition of it.

Some insist that it's tantamount to what you possess, materially that is, after all money makes the world go round, so they say...

Others say that it's all about achieving a fame. You're really in a big league if you are remembered for the feat you achieved. You left record others want to break or inspired the youth to keep on....

There are sectors that says, a good paying job, with a great family in the big house and the best education you can attain. Wow! ganda nga naman non...

One of my friend, Mr. Bryan H. says...Success is when you look back you can be able to smile. Hmmm......Kinda short yet eminates a satisfaction....

All of these definitions somehow made me pause for a while, it brought me to an analysis of what matters most in life....and I am quite inspired with what Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote..

Sucess is.....
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;
This is to have succeeded.

Quite a definition, I like it, it's encompassing.

Just an info.., do you know that according to bible scholars the word success is only mentioned once in King James Version of the Bible. It is found in Joshua 1:8 "This Book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shall have good success."
Truly, success has varieties of description but to attain it, we need to be guided by His words. As for me, without His precious words, there will be no real success.

How about you...what's your definition?

Telenovela of Politics

Politics flooded the everyday frontpages of tabloid, occuring to me as the biggest telenovela of life, starring the big names of the so-called leaders of this damaged country. Different political parties currently presenting witnesses after witnesses, hurling accusations against each other and not surprisingly, some witnesses are getting over the fence for noble reasons accordingly.(how much?). It's been quite a pitiful sight for the political environment of the only christian nation in the far east.

And now there exist a favorite ringtone of the masses....HELLOW GARCI!, that given birth to the word, IMPEACHMENT. And probably, to escape humiliation and to have a graceful exit, they are inviting everyone to party...and do the CHA-CHA. Compromises after compromises being done to keep an issue flaming or perhaps to cover one...and what does it accomplish for the filipino masses? Nothing significant ..err just an entertaiment perhaps, which filipino loves, a true to life telenovela as what I've said. Now I'm completely convinced of the one liner I have read somewhere...
We do not fear to do wrong, what we fear is to be caught doing wrong.
It has some light of truhtfulness in it as what our current political situation is conveying. Our sense of righteousness is being blinded (most of the time) by the desire of personnal gain. Our norm of conduct is generally prompted by expediency rather than by principle. We are poor and still becoming poorer. And sadly, there are people among us who are more inclined to occupy a position rather than to contribute for uplifment of the people's livelihood.

I honestly think that changing the system is good as the situation calls for it but currently, It's not the system that needs to be change! it's the persons behind the system who are tasked to implement it religiously. We must not be a member of NATO anymore!(No Actions, Talks Only....that is!) How many systems did we change for the past years yet our condition still worsens. If we are to truly change this nation towards greatness, we must first undergo changes from within, because only changed people can bring about change.......and so the telenovela could have a happy ending.

*Some words were taken from letter of Atty. J.E. Yulo*

Praying Hands...

I stumbled on this picture from one of the forum I joined. This was posted by a new found friend Mr. Hawke. It is a picture painted by Albrecht Durer entitled, "Praying Hands". It has an interesting history with it and I have re-posted it here for others that have an interest and insight as well.

It is worth reading...........

Back in the fifteenth century, in a tiny village near Nuremberg, lived a family with eighteen children. Eighteen! In order merely to keep food on the table for this mob, the father and head of the household, a goldsmith by profession, worked almost eighteen hours a day at his trade and any other paying chore he could find in the neighborhood.

Despite their seemingly hopeless condition, two of Albrecht Durer the Elder's children had a dream. They both wanted to pursue their talent for art, but they knew full well that their father would never be financially able to send either of them to Nuremberg to study at the Academy.

After many long discussions at night in their crowded bed, the two boys finally worked out a pact. They would toss a coin. The loser would go down into the nearby mines and, with his earnings, support his brother while he attended the academy. Then, when that brother who won the toss completed his studies, in four years, he would support the other brother at the academy, either with sales of his artwork or, if necessary, also by laboring in the mines.

They tossed a coin on a Sunday morning after church. Albrecht Durer won the toss and went off to Nuremberg.

Albert went down into the dangerous mines and, for the next four years, financed his brother, whose work at the academy was almost an immediate sensation. Albrecht's etchings, his woodcuts, and his oils were far better than those of most of his professors, and by the time he graduated, he was beginning to earn considerable fees for his commissioned works.

When the young artist returned to his village, the Durer family held a festive dinner on their lawn to celebrate Albrecht's triumphant homecoming. After a long and memorable meal, punctuated with music and laughter, Albrecht rose from his honored position at the head of the table to drink a toast to his beloved brother for the years of sacrifice that had enabled Albrecht to fulfill his ambition. His closing words were, "And now, Albert, blessed brother of mine, now it is your turn. Now you can go to Nuremberg to pursue your dream, and I will take care of you."

All heads turned in eager expectation to the far end of the table where Albert sat, tears streaming down his pale face, shaking his lowered head from side to side while he sobbed and repeated, over and over, "No ...no ...no ...no."

Finally, Albert rose and wiped the tears from his cheeks. He glanced down the long table at the faces he loved, and then, holding his hands close to his right cheek, he said softly, "No, brother. I cannot go to Nuremberg. It is too late for me. Look ... look what four years in the mines have done to my hands! The bones in every finger have been smashed at least once, and lately I have been suffering from arthritis so badly in my right hand that I cannot even hold a glass to return your toast, much less make delicate lines on parchment or canvas with a pen or a brush. No, brother ... for me it is too late."

More than 450 years have passed. By now, Albrecht Durer's hundreds of masterful portraits, pen and silver-point sketches, watercolors, charcoals, woodcuts, and copper engravings hang in every great museum in the world, but the odds are great that you, like most people, are familiar with only one of Albrecht Durer's works. More than merely being familiar with it, you very well may have a reproduction hanging in your home or office.

One day, to pay homage to Albert for all that he had sacrificed, Albrecht Durer painstakingly drew his brother's abused hands with palms together and thin fingers stretched skyward. He called his powerful drawing simply "Hands," but the entire world almost immediately opened their hearts to his great masterpiece and renamed his tribute of love "The Praying Hands."

The next time you see a copy of that touching creation, take a second look. Let it be your reminder, if you still need one, that no one - no one - - ever makes it alone!

...Lyn D' Angels...

I'm really very fond of meeting people, irrespective of their race, beliefs and social status, as if there's something in me that is being satisfied whenever I suceed to established a good raport to every people I came accross with. Personnaly,
I consider it a very exciting achievement....

Dito nga sa opis namin, may nakakasalamuha akong mga unique ladies in their own right. (ladies nga ba?) I don't know from where planet they came from, but they all possess similarity of names. I'd like to call them ...Lyn D' Angels. Here's how I see them..

Ailyn 1--- A newbie in HRM department that gives me tickles as well as irritation. She is in-love with my "batok" that's why she fondly calls me by that name everytime I pass-by her office. This lady is a green apple and has so many things to learn. Hehehe! (nakaganti rin ako)

Ailyn 2--- Another sweet lady, laging naka-smile buti na lang walang tinga! She's a very promising jolly lady. Mahirap na mapagtripan ka ng babaeng ito! Minsan nga nakipagharutan, masyado yatang natuwa...hinila at sinira ang uniform ko, tapos tumawa pa ng tumawa, kasama nung isang Aileen. gusto kong mainis but I managed to manage the situation kaya natawa na rin lang ako, sayang energy ko sa galit (naks! very possitive no?), Kasi talaga namang kakatwa ang uniform namin, parang...ewan! Hoy Ailyn! Hanggang ngayon sira pa uniform ko...kakatakot kang matuwa! daming nawawasak! Pero maganda ka rin.....biro lang! (naniwala ka naman!)

Aileen --- This one is quite reserved and low profile. A deafening silence that speaks a lot of possibilities. She lives in a cave where only chosen people are allowed. I call her Batgirl, (di naman mukhang paniki ha!), minsan nadiskubre namin ang blogspot at nagsulat kami ng kung anu-ano lang pero....WOW! the talent surfaced...Galing! Pero careful ka if you're not prepared to be iritated when you engage her in "asaran" session. Champion yan mang-asar! Her words fall soft and light but has a great weight. Ilag igan!

Eileen --- Another very interesting lady. 'Met her here in cyberworld, her beauty and charms radiates from my boobtube pero di naman s'ya bolera, natural lang. Very open and humble, she is a singer of the band which is why I think she is articulate to talk with. Minsan, nagbubulalas ng problema yan sa forum, teary eyed nga ako sa pagbabasa eh, maraming nagbibigay ng advice, and di nya alam ay ...the more she gets vulnerable by opening up....the more she is helping us to be strong, and we got quite close yet actually so far just by sharing her dim experiences. (akala ko walang totoong tao dito sa cyberworld, but she proved otherwise.) God bless you Sunshine. Hang in there! God has a plan for you...

...Yeah it's true, everyone is unique. Look at them, similar names, same gender, yet very different persons. As what I usually says...People varies...sa tagalog, ang mga tao binabaon sa lupa...LOL! LOL!(joke!) Kidding aside, you are all angels and inspiration! God Loves You All!!

Di kaya mabugbog ako nito pag nabasa nila ito......(jitters..)

Even though...

I,ve got an e-mail from my brother Jozel who never fails to uplift me with his inspirational and insightful collections of articles. He's very far yet manage to be so close. Let me share one of those e-mails with you....

Even though

Even though you have every right to be angry, you have every reason to let it go. For when you let go of your anger, you make more room for joy.

Even though your first impulse may be to retaliate, you're likely to be better off when you reconcile and forgive. After all, when you've been hurt, it makes no sense for you to prolong the hurt with your own attitude and actions.

Even though the world is often cruel and unfair, it does not have to get you down. The more fully and willingly you accept what is, the more power you have to improve upon it.

Even though many things will come along that could be frustrating and annoying, you can always choose to respond with patience and with grace. By so doing, you'll be building strength as well as focusing your energy in a more positive and productive direction.

Even though events may not go your way, you can continue to move in the direction of your own choosing. Success depends very little on being given what you want, and much more on becoming the best you can be.

Even though life has its setbacks, disappointments and tragedies, they pale in comparison to the new and positive possibilities that increase with each passing moment. Choose to fully live the immeasurable blessing that is your life, and every day will move you forward.

-- Ralph Marston

Tama s'ya....we really don't know what the future will hold for us, so let us continue to plant good seeds for the future, even though..........

Utol Jozel...salamat!

When the newness wears off.

Have you experienced being veerrry excited, attentive and motivated in a certain activity assigned to you, or perhaps to a new job or environment you are into....Ang aga mong gumising, pasipol-sipol pa, walang late, lahat ng utos "Yes Sir! o Yes Mam!" ang sagot, pasigaw pa yun ha. Pati ang bilis mong kumilos, dami mong nagagawa, parang wala ng bukas, lahat ng assign task tapos mo! walang tinitirang jobs, You're sweating hard but it really doesn't bother you much 'co'z you're accomplishing something you've never done before. Very productive, very efficient. Husay!

Madalas mainit na ang ulo mo at feeling mo napag-iiwanan ka, pati blood pressure mo mataas na yata.....Where have all the magics gone?, where's the seemingly undying ember of optimism? Did the flame already died?

Yes!...things like these happens. And when it does approach you, don't be upset, throw that self-pity away out of your window. Here are some tips to get rid of those pessimism....

1. Keep yourself busy....
The more you are busy the less time you ponder negative thoughts.

2. Re-inforce optimism.....
Watch and read inspirational and lively stories.

3. Be not alone....
Keep it a point to be with a group of cheerful company most of the time.

4. Discover the special you....
Find your special talent.There is one for everybody, it's just waiting to be discovered.

5. Take a rest....
You maybe just too tired and mostly everyone tends to look dim when they're exhausted.

6. Lastly, take time to listen to others...
My mom says..."In order for you to forget the not so good situation you're in, listen to others with more grievous predicament."

Just do not let that bad feeling conquer you, because you can still contribute a lot to this hungry world. Don't provide a limit to yourself with regards to service and contribution.

If this doesn't work and the ill feeling still survives...ewan ko na lang, ganyan yata talaga pag menopause ka na.......LOL!
